Software I use on my Mac

I rcently had to reinstall Leopard on my iMac, due to an Update from Tiger and two migrations something was badly broken. So a clean start.

This is the list of of Software I installed, it will be Updated as needed:

Firefox with Firebug: Simply the best Browser for web development.

Skype: for everything chat.

Cyberduck: FTP.

Jumpcut: a great clipboard manager with history function, lives in your menubar.

OpenOffice.org: In my opinion every bit better than Microsofts waste of time and Money.

Aptana Studio: Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for Web Development, includes Support for PHP, JS, Ruby on Rails, Adobe Air. A must have.

Tweetie: Twitter client, also available for iPhone.

NetNewsWire: THE newsreader for Mac. Period.

Transmission: simple BitTorrent client.

Handbrake: Video converter, converts DVDs and other types of video to iTunes-compatible format.

MacTeX: LaTeX disptribution for Mac. I use it with the songs package for typesetting guitar songbooks.

Smultron: All purpose text editor, features syntax highlighting and regex searches.

VLC: Media Player, If VLC doesn’t play it, nothing does.

Perian: Codec pack, enables Quicktime to play all popular video formats.

IPSecuritas: VPN client. If you use Windows you gotta pay for that kind of functionality.

Growl: unintrusive notification system.

Plex: Media Center

Inkscape: Open Source Vector Drawing

Hex Fiend: hex editor, capable of editing files several hundreds of gigabytes in size
